Clubbing and culture
Is it all about entertainment with a bit of culture these days?...Shunt produces this in a sprawling maze of railway arches on Joiner Street, under London Bridge station with the Betabet Collective recently taking over the place and using 40 artists to blend art, music, performance and new media!
How about sticking to pub hours though? In Shoreditch, Industry has re-opened as 'The Queen of Hoxton', which aims to create a playground for creative types with Henry Holland, Kate Moross and Filthy Dukes seen on the decks.
Notting Hill Arts Club has been the cardinal destination for fun, style and culture, with 'Secousse' making quite a mark on the London Scene. The event introduces new world music, from syrian techno to gypsy beats!
Check out The Mix Network to find your ideal Mix! www.themixnetwork.co.uk
At any high culture venue, its all about diversity, so expect to embrace punk, cosmic rock, tech disco and dark pop on Friday and then funk and soul on Saturday.
Outlandish consort!
'Oh my God! I miss you' have lead the way this year with the most outlandish yet trendy nights in the capital www.ohmygod imissyou.com.It all started at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club where the planners successfully created an a friendly atmosphere for a crowd who were fashionable, but not fashionistas. This was complimented by the amazing 60s original decor. The most succesful night 'Grind A Go Go' creates and atmosphere of sleazy 60s go-go club meets teen music TV.
The newest creation Hoodoo Voodoo in Kennington's South London Pacific (http://www.themixnetwork.co.uk/venue-search.asp) will "become a bamboo-lined, smoke-filled voodoo jungle with wild cave-girls, gorillas, witch doctors, and beastly sacrificial burlesque".
Please comment on your most spectacular social mix's?....
